Cracked Heels

For Women > Podiatry > Conditions > Cracked Heels

Hormonal changes during pregnancy can cause your skin to lose elasticity and moisture as it stretches and tightens, which can result in dry skin and cracking around the heels, also known as heel fissures. A proper daily moisturising regime can help to reduce moisture loss from the skin.

How can a Podiatrist help?

Pregnancy and pending motherhood should be a joyous experience without painful foot issues. If you are suffering from pain from cracked heels, do consult our experienced podiatrists who can relieve your symptoms by thoroughly debriding the heel fissures to allow effective emollient therapy. The treatment procedure is painless! Our podiatrists will then advise on the application of appropriate moisturising creams (usually with urea-based creams or emu oil) to prevent recurrence.
